Through our tutoring session, Dravid aimed to improve his understanding of the material for both subjects, as well as to work on his problem-solving skills in order to prepare for the IB final examinations in May.
During the week we worked together, Dravid and I identified his strengths and his areas for improvement as a student. This allowed us to tailor our tutoring sessions to Dravid’s specific needs. Additionally, at the beginning of the week, we designed a lesson plan to make sure that we met Dravid’s goals and that we had enough time to do a thorough revision of the most important topics of both syllabi. Then, at the end of each day, we assessed our progress and gave each other feedback in order to make any necessary adjustments to our lessons.
No matter how long you require support, where you are, or your circumstance, residential tuition offers students the opportunity to benefit from outstanding support, at every moment, with a tutor they know and trust.
The assured presence of residential tutors ensures students can continue to perform well if moving regularly between schools, that their talents and interests are explored and developed away from school, and are prepared for the next stage of their education in the best manner possible.
Every single one of our residential tutors has a history of academic excellence, an intimate knowledge of the IB, and a wealth of experience supporting students. We work closely with students, their families and tutors, to ensure every one of the tutors we work with and introduce to students perfectly suits their needs, interests, and personality, putting the academic and personal wellbeing of your child at the very centre of what we do.
The IB is truly international, and so every one of of the tutors we work with is ready to deliver unrivalled support, no matter where you are, or where you end up.
We've brought together a world-leading team of educators so we can introduce IB students to the perfect tutor.
Every one of our residential tutors is required to hold an Enhanced DBS issued by the UK Government, or equivalent certification, to support students.
I always find that my age and proximity to my own IB experience makes my students more comfortable with me - I find it easy to teach because it is so relatable, and they respond well to speaking to someone who has done what they are doing and been successful at it.
My student definitely improved over the course of the ten days. I always find this with intensive revision - retackling the same problems again every day leads to success. Her ability to speak about the passages of Richard II improved greatly until she was performing at a level 7 - she was speaking precisely, had organized her thoughts well and signposted to the examiner how she would move through her oral, and importantly she ended up not missing a single caesura or image or rhetorical question iun the poetry. Her writing also greatly improved and by the end of the 10 days was writing really strong sets of paragraphs.
Whilst we strongly believe the IB's programmes are best delivered in an IB World School, we understand that some students are unable to benefit from full-time education for the duration of their IB programme. In such instances, we are happy to arrange full academic support for students, recreating as far as possible a school schedule, and to provide pastoral care to students, acting as their 'form tutor' and keeping in regular contact with the student, family, and all subject teachers and the IB Coordinator.
Due to the intensity of this support, we recommend students do not miss more school than is necessary, and would suggest families consider the social impacts of students spending more than one academic year out of full-time formal education. If you would like to discuss ways in which we can support you or your student while they move temporarily out of full-time education, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Students often approach us looking to be introduced to a member of our tutoring team for intensive support over a short period, most frequently over the summer or Easter breaks. This support can take the form of full days in individual academic subjects or can mimic the student’s school routine, and we have a proven history of supporting students successfully in their intensive tuition.
Our team of tutors whom we work with consists of IB graduates - all of whom achieve highly in their own IB studies - IB teachers, and IB Examiners, and so are perfectly placed to provide personalised intensive support to an exceptional standard.
We happy to discuss the arrangements we can make to support you wherever you are. To find out exactly how we can help, get in touch
Making sure tutors and students match is even more important for residential support, and so we pay particular attention to make sure every student gets the perfect tutor.
With Residential support, we make sure the student and the tutor we place them with put together a comprehensive programme of support, so not a moment is wasted.
