Introduction to TOK

Before you start the IB, there are a lot of decisions to be made. You will most likely already have spent a lot of time considering which subjects you will be taking, and the levels you wish to pursue. We all know how difficult it can be to be 100% sure you have made the right decision, and we hope that this day will provide some much needed clarity and support. Work with our exceptional IB tutors and consultants to explore the Maths levels of the IB, to differentiate between the different syllabuses of Maths HL, SL, and Studies. Get an introduction to the key ideas in Theory of Knowledge and know how to make the most of your Internal Assessments and Extended Essay. Finally, know what matters as you choose your Group 3 (Humanities) and 4 (Sciences) subjects, and why you should be making the decisions you are making.

Which Science, Which Humanities?

Theory of Knowledge: An Introduction

Unique amongst educational programmes, the IB’s core Theory of Knowledge course can be daunting in its unfamiliarity. Our Theory of Knowledge workshop tutor will guide you through the groundwork so you can begin in September with a confident understanding of TOK. As part of the core, it is compulsory and contributes to the possible three bonus points on offer, which can be crucial in terms of university offers.

Internal Assessments and Extended Essays

Part of success in the IB comes from mastering your academic writing skills. With internal assessments in all subjects, as well as an important decision in your first IB year of which subject to do your Extended Essay in, this workshop will explore both the key skills required to succeed in each of these, but also knowing how to confidently choose your topics and create high levels of written work in the IB.

Maths Skills & Calculator Use; Selecting the Right Level

This workshop will consider the fundamental mathematical principles which run through many subjects in the IB: linear and quadratic equations, mathematical regression and many other techniques which every IB student should have up their sleeve. It will also provide students with the knowledge they need to correctly choose the right level of Maths in the IB, considering their mathematical aptitude and career goals.
